The third and final session of the Dialogues with Industry series will focus on building the business case for accessible and cost-effective ocean observing technologies and understanding the market forces that drive adoption. Dialogue 3 will explore how demand aggregation, mass-market opportunities, and private-sector investment can accelerate innovation across the Ocean Enterprise.

Topics will include revenue models, pricing strategies tailored to different regions, and how to attract venture capital and start-up participation. Participants will examine the evolving market landscape: who is buying sensors, where gaps persist, and how private observing networks and localized sensor development affect sector growth. The session will also address the balance between public benefits and profit motives, exploring how privately collected data can support both commercial success and societal value.
